What exactly is Botox and Dysport?

These are two brand names for a class of neuro modulators used to treat fine lines and wrinkles. They work by decreasing the strength of muscles contraction. The amount of muscle movement you have after treatment is based on the amount of product used. You and I will decide what amount is best for you based on your goals. Local Aesthetics carries Dysport only.

Is this safe?

Both Botox and Dysport has been FDA approved for the use of cosmetic injection for over a decade. It is considered safe to use in nearly all adults 18-65 years of age with no long term side effects or consequence of use. There are very rare contraindications that we would discuss prior to treatment.

What results can I expect to see after my treatment?

4-10 day after receiving neuro modulators, you will notice fine lines and deep wrinkles start to fade. This happens because the muscles in the treated area are not contracting to their fullest. You will still have some movement in the treated areas and will not have a "frozen face". People may notice you look well rested and refreshed, results are subtle and beautiful.

How long will the results last?

3-4 months on average

How much does it cost?

What is Dermal Filler used for?

As we age, there is a noticeable loss of volume in parts of our face which causes skin to sag and deeper wrinkles to appear. By adding volume with Hyaluronic Acid Filler, volume is restored and deep creases fade resulting in a more youthful appearance. Filler can be used in multiple areas and lasts approximately 6-18 months. Most common areas for filler are the lips, cheeks, under eyes and nasolabial folds. The amount of filler needed to achieve your goals varies and will be discussed during your consultation.

Dysport Post Care Instructions

Immediately post injections:

Swelling and red bumps are normal and usually resolve within minutes to hours. Ice may be applied to affected areas

Headache is fairly common post forehead injections. You may take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for pain relief

Bruising may appear immediately, hours or days later. Many people do not bruise at all. Taking Aspirin, blood thinners, Fish Oil and drinking alcohol will increase the likelihood of this

For two hours post injection:

- Do not rub, scrub or massage the area as this could cause the toxin to spread to unintended adjacent muscles

- Do squeeze or contract the treated muscle 2-4 times per hour

- Do not reapply makeup. Face wash and lotions are ok

- Do not exercise vigorously

For 12-24 hours post injection:

Do not wear anything tight around the treated areas (ski/swim goggles, C-pap mask, tight hats, ect)

3-5 days post injections:

You will begin to notice the toxin taking affect. You should not expect to see results before this. Because the toxin spreads at different speeds, you may notice subtle unevenness or asymmetry which typically resolves itself

Two weeks post injection:

At this point, all the toxin has taken affect. Call to schedule a follow-up consultation for touch-ups as you feel necessary!
